Based in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire we are part of your community, with the knowledge and pride that comes from being local. Here are the recent highlights of what we’ve been up to.
Air Ambulance Rescue
We were delighted to support the essential Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance by funding one of their rescue missions. This dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service can reach any point in the two counties in less than 20 minutes, and on average can transfer a patient to hospital within eight minutes. Each mission costs approx £2,500 and they fly an average of three missions per day, 365 days of the year.
Supporting the British Legion
It’s a privilege for us to support the British Legion by donating 10% of the profits we make in November to this vital charity. For many people, Remembrance is associated with the fallen of the two world wars, and while it is important to remember them, our support has also focused on this generation of veterans that need help too.
Lincolnshire Three Peaks
You've heard of the National Three Peaks Challenge? Well, Second Element's SportsAid event was our very own "Lincolnshire Three Peaks Challenge"… actually it’s two peaks and a Mountain! You may be thinking to yourself Lincolnshire is flat isn't it? Well, that's the point! Our charity walk covered approximately 11 miles of the highest peaks of the Lincolnshire Wolds… AND the famous Cadwell Park race track, including THE MOUNTAIN!
Sisters with Blisters
We were very happy to support "The Sisters with Blisters" in their Herculean effort to tackle the 106km continuous ultra-marathon of the Isle of Wight coastal path – which they did through day and night! The Sisters raised money for the Lily Foundation to help fund vital research in to the search for a cure for Mitochondrial disease.
Follow the Firework Code
We do a lot of work with schools in Nottingham, so this Second Element van is seen by children and parents all the time. We thought we’d seize the chance to get an important safety message on the side of the vehicle and in front of thousands of kids as part of our daily work, reminding them to follow the Firework Code.
Wear it Pink, says George!
The day when the ladies at Second Element decided to take part in the “Wear it Pink” fundraising event, organised by Breast Cancer Now. From Hot Pink through to Baby Pink, every shade was represented by the Second Element fashionistas, but star turn came from Abi who turned up as George from Rainbow - now who's going to confess to being old enough to remember that?
